Three ways to fall in love (and with) Mount Dennis

Looking for new ways to fall in love with your partner in Mount Dennis? Check out these date night ideas.

Date night can feel repetitive if you’re visiting the same five spots, which always happen to be on Queen Street West, Bathurst Street or the Ossington strip.

That’s why we’re spicing up your list with three activities in the Mount Dennis neighbourhood.

Mount Dennis BIA Date Night Itinerary

The Mount Dennis Business Improvement Area (BIA) is holding a pre-planned date night for couples (or friends, situationships — whatever you’re labelling it) featuring three spots to keep the spark alive all night.

It’s happening on Thursday, April 16. Seeing this past then? Don’t worry! Follow the Mount Dennis BIA to learn about future event opportunities in the area.

The class is $90 per couple, which includes a chicken parmesan-making class at Culinarium and a beginner’s dance class at Ballroom Expressions. As a Date Night participant, you also receive a discounted rate for drinks and karaoke at your optional final destination, The Irish Rose.

Plus, you’ll be going around with other couples, so it’s a great chance to meet some neighbours or your future double date crew.

If you’d like to join their waitlist, email laura@mountdennisbia.ca.

Coffee and Trails

For romance on a budget and with the soon-to-be late summer nights, The Green Line suggests a casual coffee chat, but make it scenic by walking through the Humber Valley.

If you’re still learning about your date, you’ll really get to know each other as you walk the trail.

And, if you need to make a fast exit during a horrible date, you are always near Mount Dennis station and TTC bus stops, if you know there won’t be another one.

If this is your 105th date, you’ll have a chance to reflect on old relationship tales, and take a moment to appreciate each other without the stress of the city noise. Here’s how to access it:

  • The Humber Valley trail can be accessed by car if you park in the lot on Emmett Avenue from Eglinton Avenue West, so don’t block the site driveway.
  • If you’re walking or taking TTC, you can walk in from Emmett or on the trails from Portage Gardens Park and from the east side of the Eglinton bridge.
  • You could also take a TTC bus like the 73 or 89 from Weston Road and Eglinton Avenue West to Emmett.
  • Always confirm the TTC schedule before relying on it for date night transportation.
  • The walk from our suggested cafes and shops to the beginning of the trail is about 25 minutes.

For the coffee part of your date, hit up Super Coffee at Weston Road and Eglinton Avenue West or visit Bắp Bubble Tea, a block north of Super Coffee, for a sweet treat in drink form.

Visit The Green Line’s Third Spaces Map for more hiking trails if you enjoyed your nature date and want to cross off more spots around Toronto.

Mid-day date with the Toronto Public Library

Toronto Public Library — Mount Dennis Branch is offering you the chance to get crafty with paper quiling! Check it out whether you’re already a crafty couple or one that likes a challenge.

The adult beginner-friendly workshop takes place on Monday, April 27 from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. with all materials included.

You could gift each other your paper quill creation, or “up the love” aspect by adding it to a card and writing a sweet note before giving it to your partner.

Registration is encouraged on the TPL website. Drop-ins welcome until capacity is reached.
