Why you should visit this hotel for your next coworking session

Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel is so much more than a way to the PATH, where tourists and out-of-town Financial District lovers stay — it’s also a coworking space.

Tons of people often walk into the hotel lobby from Queen Street East to take calls and get work done. It’s a rare gem in the ambient hustle and bustle of the 6ix.

The Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel has those single booths where you can take calls or you can use one of the many tables and couches to work.

I’ve found that hotel guests and Torontonians borrowing the space for the day just blend, so there’s no awkward feeling of, “Am I allowed to be here?” You really can’t tell who’s a guest and who’s just larping. 

Dual Citizen is a café located in the lobby. They serve everyone, not just hotel guests, and they have grab-and-go food items, a regular menu of coffee-based beverages and more.

The Green Line highlighted this third space as an indoor green space as well, but not because the lobby is filled with plants — there are some — but because of its unique glass room that opens to the outdoors.

It provides a nice view when you’re working on the couches next to the glass. In the winter, you get to enjoy the snow without being cold and in the summer you can see the bright green leaves and fountain run without sweating in the city.

 If you’re looking to visit, here are some things to note:

  • Please note that the hotel access from the PATH closes at 11 p.m. and reopens at 6 a.m. So anytime between then, you’ll have to enter from the main doors on the street entrances.
• Dual Citizen is open from 6:30 a.m. till 12 a.m., so it’s a pretty good spot if you plan on working late.
• At the end of the day, the property is meant for the guests, so if you’re working there from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., you may get asked questions by security, because you could be seen as loitering. However, if you’re working there for a couple of hours, that’s usually okay.
  • Be respectful; keep in mind that paying guests may have priority over visitors who are just there to work.
  • The Green Line called to confirm it’s okay to work there when you’re not a guest, but that you can’t stay there all day.
