Curran Stikuts has been voted as city councillor for Ward 13 Toronto Centre for his very first term. His priorities include housing, affordability, nightlife, safety, climate action, transit and more.
Coun. Stikuts won the councillor seat in the 2026 Toronto municipal election with 28.6% of the votes, beating incumbent Chris Moise, who had 23.4% of the votes. Stikuts will officially step into his role on Nov. 15, 2026.
The Green Line reached out to Stikuts to learn more about his priorities for the next four years, and here’s what he had to say:
- Care for public spaces: In an email to The Green Line, Stikuts said he’ll focus on making practical improvements to parks, sidewalks and laneways, while working towards better maintenance, programming and coordinated approaches to public safety. He supports the pedestrianization of Church Street.
- Care for tenants and housing: Stikuts says he’ll work with tenants and tenant organizations across Toronto Centre to advocate for their rights, strengthen their organizational abilities, improve access to City resources and more. He wants to tackle issues of displacement, above-guideline rent increases and poor building conditions.
- Improvement between the City and residents: Stikuts told us he wants to improve the relationship between Toronto and the people that live there. He says he’ll be focusing on “bringing City divisions and community partners together to address persistent neighbourhood issues.” He adds that he wants communities to have a meaningful role in shaping the decisions that impact their daily lives.
Here’s how Stikuts responded to election pledges shared by local organizations and advocacy groups:
- Stikuts fully signed on to the Community-led Planning Pledge to fund community-led planning and centre community voices.
- He signed the TTC Riders’ pledge to push for more reliable, affordable, accessible, frequent, fast, and safe public transit.
- He fully agreed to Cycle Toronto’s pledge to improve cycling infrastructure in the city.
- He is largely committed to the demands raised by Toronto ACORN to give RentSafeTO teeth, stand up to Ontario and tackle heat and affordability. You can check the details here.
- He signed the Toronto Environmental Alliance’s pledge to commit to voting for a maximum temperature bylaw, plant trees in hot neighbourhoods, cut single-use trash at big events, pause approvals for big AI data centres and cut emissions.
