City Council might be on break but we aren’t! Here’s what you need to know about upcoming public meetings happening in the city.
Just because City Council is on break, doesn’t mean everyone is out of office.
Candidates are gearing up for the 2026 municipal election and things are getting juicy across different wards instead of inside City Hall. But that doesn’t mean that meetings aren’t happening across the city.
Yes, there’s nothing on the City of Toronto website and other sites are saying there are no public meetings for the next little while, but if you can’t find a meeting, you’re not looking hard enough.
We’ve got your back, though. Here are two meetings happening in the month of September to make your civic-obsessed heart flutter.
- On Sept. 3 at 2 p.m., a funny meeting is taking place. You probably don’t know that the Toronto Zoo hosts public meetings. They discuss things like financials, but at this meeting, they’re also discussing an Ontario bat conservation research update. You can’t tell me that doesn’t sound sick — in a fun way.
- Are you a fan of community land trusts? Well, if you’re not, you should be because they’re awesome community groups that steward land for residents. Kensington Market Community Land Trust (KMCLT) is hosting their monthly meeting on Sept. 21, from 6 to 8 p.m. and it’s open to the public. You just have to sign-up as a supporter or community member, but only community members can vote. The meeting will be held at St. Stephen’s-in-the-Fields Anglican Church.
