We’re officially in the last stretch of Pride month.
Here are a couple of smaller events you may have missed out on with the dozens of Pride celebrations going down this weekend.
CO-OP ART SHOW
Co-op art show: Arcadia Housing Co-op is opening its doors for Whimsical Oddities, an art market with live music and more on June 26 and 27. If you want to learn more about the co-op and support local artists, then make sure to head to 680 Queens Quay W. for the full experience from 12 to 2 p.m. on Friday and 6 to 9 p.m. on Saturday.
SING IN CHORUS
Sing in chorus: Join the Toronto Shape Note Group on June 27 for an afternoon of music pulled from The Sacred Harp 2025 songbook. From 1:45 to 4 p.m., discover tunes from 2025 to the 17th century all while keeping harmony. These sessions are free, but feel free to tip the group to help keep these events going.
POST-MARCH PARTY
Post-march party: Recoup with some fun post-Dyke March at Three Dollar Bill’s Beaver Fever. Doors open at 8 p.m. on June 27 with the tunes of DJ Sigourney Beaver, $3 Jill and a special guest to keep you dancing all night long. Advanced tickets are $15 or $20 at the door, so make sure to snag the early bird price.
BEDAZZLE OUT
Bedazzle out: Artist Carla Sierra Suarez is hosting a workshop on June 28 for disabled folks to deck out their mobility and disability aids with style. Whether it’s a cane, glasses, or a wheelchair, all are welcome to add patches, stickers, charms and more pizazz at St. Matthew’s Clubhouse from 12 to 3 p.m. Spots are limited, so make sure to RSVP through this form ASAP!
FOOD DRIVE FUN
Food drive fun: Join Community Fridges Toronto and their East Toronto chapter for a trivia night that doubles as a food drive. Bring in some food, within their guidelines, or a cash donation to Creed’s Coffee Bar on July 2 while enjoying a low-stakes trivia night. You’ll score yourself and get loads of hints, so it shouldn’t be too challenging. It’s going down from 5 to 8:30 p.m. The event is free, just RSVP to save your spot.
Tragically, I won’t be in the city for this Pride weekend, but if you are, take a look at this year’s awesome programming! We got LSDXOXO, Bob the Drag Queen, Silky Nutmeg Ganache, and more performing this weekend and what better time to enjoy them but in a crowd of fellow LGBTQ+ folks and allies? There are tons of people on the lineup, but I’d suggest taking the time to see DijahSB (shoutout to their song “Green Line” that affirmed EIC Anita’s vision for this publication), Sami Landri and J3M perform this weekend.
And if you’re looking for something more chill, then catch the tail end of Toronto’s free jazz festival. But no worries if you miss it, there are a couple more jazz festivals coming up this summer.
