Community bbq

Community BBQ: Join the Theatre Centre for a free family-friendly barbecue. From 5 to 8 p.m. on July 17, enjoy outdoor fun with the whole family down at the centre’s West Queen West location. Due to the weather, it’ll be held partially indoors to keep everyone safe, but keep an eye on their socials for details. Plus, they’ll offer free hot dogs and hamburgers (with vegan and vegetarian alternatives), so you can snack on while vibing to live music.

Sticker social

Sticker social: Looking to journal amongst fellow stationary fiends? Then Babs Collective has the event for you. Whether you’re free July 18 or 23, there are two upcoming nights, where you’re welcome to bond with fellow journaling enthusiasts while sipping from drinks and treats from venue The Company We Keep. Tickets go for $15, but keep in mind that guests are expected to spend $45 on drinks and/or food to break even.

Flirty fae fun

Flirty fae fun: Sapphic event organizer Cass Cervi, better known as Cherry Bomb, is back with another faerie fiesta. Titled “Fruity faerie summer party,” the third party is calling all the fae creatures to the woods, a.k.a. Bampot House. For $22.63 on July 18, dance the night away from 9:30 p.m. to late in your best fae regalia. Plus, there will be prizes for the best dressed, so show up and show out!

Creative Cleanup

Creative cleanup: Pick up trash, make some art and enjoy some snacks alongside Humber River Pals. On July 19, help tidy up Weston Lions Park from 9 to 11 a.m. Refreshments will be served (BYO cups, plates, cutlery, etc) with a raffle for a bike tune-up and an art-making session hosted by Works In Progress. Keep an eye on their Instagram as they may postpone if the air quality is still terrible.

Café craft club

Café craft club: Inspired by fika, a Swedish coffee break practice, artist and baker Extra Slice is hosting a drop-in fibre arts night on July 23. From 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., purchase baked goods made by Extra Slice while working on your latest embroidery or knit project at Secret Planet Print Shop. And if you have any scrap yarn or projects, you’re welcome to swap with fellow textile art lovers.
