TikTok user @Jk_n asked The Green Line if we could make a list of date nights in Little Jamaica.
So, here are three ideas to switch up your usual date rotation.
Live your Lady and the Tramp moment with jerk chicken
RAP’S
RAP’S provides authentic Jamaican dishes at 1541 Eglinton Ave. W. with seating available inside.
The restaurant is most known for its jerk chicken, which you can find being cooked in a jerk drum —a repurposed oil drum that slowly smokes the meat — on the sidewalk all night long.
Shery’s Authentic Caribbean Cuisine
Sheryl’s authentic Caribbean cuisine is located at 1720 Eglinton Ave. W. recently celebrated 10 years in business.
The fact that it’s been around for 10 years proves to you that you can take your date there. You know it’s real, trusted Caribbean food.Â
There is also seating available inside the restaurant if you’d like to eat in or grab some takeout and make it an at-home date with some good food.
A sweet treat hidden gem
Who doesn’t love a little sweet treat?
Show your date a good time by bringing them to a Grenadian-owned bakery, then for a Colombian coffee.
NutmegSpiced
“NutmegSpiced is more than just a bakery — it’s a love letter to the Spice Island,” according to its website.
The walk-up window bakery at 646 Oakwood Ave. was started by Sonisha Paul, a culinary-trained chef and recipe developer who creates handcrafted treats celebrating Caribbean heritage.
Once you’ve made your date even sweeter through Paul’s pastries, continue your date by going to Café Conciencia, which isn’t even a minute walk away from each other.
Located at 646 Oakwood Ave. — a couple of units down from NutmegSpiced — Café Conciencia is family-owned. It was started by a mother-daughter duo and opened its doors to the community this year.
Try some Colombian coffee, more pastries and an all-day breakfast when you come here for your date.
If you’re trying to beat the Sunday scaries with your loved one, the café started “Gratitude Sundays” where you can get a coffee, artisan bread and write an appreciation card. A great opportunity to express gratitude for an amazing partner, wink wink.
Get creative with an adult painting workshop
Toronto Public Library — Maria A. Shchuka Branch at 1745 Eglinton Ave. W. is offering you and your date the chance to participate in an adult painting workshop!
The workshop takes place on Wednesday, May 27 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. with all supplies included.
You can paint an example or explore what comes to your mind when painting with your date.
Registration is required on the TPL website, and it closes on May 27 at 9 a.m.
