Feeling too hot to think of any plans this week?

No worries, we’ve got all sorts of event suggestions sure to make your week.

ROCKING QUEER FUN

Rocking queer fun: Start your Pride celebrations alongside your favourite local alternative musicians, drag artists and friends at Bampot House. From 10 p.m. till late, enjoy the stylings of Babe Sapien, Ekka, Monstrosa and more for $20 a ticket or pay-what-you-can. And if you’re a crafter, then look out for the patch-making station.

DANCE THROUGH HOOPS

Dance through hoops: Learn the art of hoop-making and dancing with Ojibway hoop dancer Tiffani Vart. At Allan Gardens on June 13, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., learn how to make and personalize your hoop, then learn traditional dance moves. This workshop is a free drop-in and open to all ages, so bring your friends, younger siblings, and parents to join in on the fun.

GET YOUR GREEN THUMB ON

Get your green thumb on: Want to do your part in making the world, or at least the city, a better place? Then visit Garden@Kimbourne this Sunday, June 14, for their eco fair. Whether you’re looking to donate food, learn about picking fruits across neighbourhoods in the city, or just want a tour of the garden, mark your calendar for this open house event.

RADICAL ACTS OF ART

Radical acts of art: Looking to connect with fellow art activists in the city? Then the Artists for Climate and Migrants Justice and Indigenous Sovereignty’s upcoming three-part workshop is the perfect fit for you. On June 17, 23 and 30, attend workshops on the art of slogans, poster-making, and wheatpasting. Tickets are PWYC, starting at $5 per event, with transit and wheelchair accessibility. Email the organizers beforehand if you require child-minding services during a session.

SHOW AND TELL

Show and tell: Calling all artists looking for feedback, an audience, or simply to connect with like-minded creatives. Charles Street Video’s Video Chuck event series invites creatives to share their sci-fi audio drama pilot, half-finished short film, or sketches for an interactive piece, this time around on June 18 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Make sure to keep your project under 15 minutes, read the FAQs and RSVP to save your spot on the night’s lineup.
