Strap on your running shoes, wear your lucky socks and walk on over to support medical research.
The annual “We walk UHNITED” fundraiser is happening Saturday, May 30. The event raises funds for University Health Network (UHN) equipment, technology and staff.
The walk is happening at 8 a.m. on Saturday. It’ll start at 201 Elizabeth St. — the Toronto General Hospital outdoor parking lot. If you need help figuring out how to get there, the website tells you where to park or which TTC routes you can use.
There are two separate, accessible routes you can take — both starting at the same place. You can choose to walk 5 km until Toronto Western Hospital or a 2 km loop around at McCaul Street.

The walk, which you can do in teams or individually, is followed by food, live entertainment and celebration at Toronto General Hospital starting at 10 a.m.
Anyone can participate in the walk. It’s a family-friendly event and is designed to be welcoming for dogs and strollers, as well as people with mobility aids.
Before you head out and start walking, you’ll have to register for a fee of $25, which covers operational costs and grants you access to a kit and the post-walk celebration, activities and food. You can pick up your kit at 522 University Ave., on the second floor, any time from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The We Walk UHNITED event has an app where you can raise more money, track progress, get event day info and cheer on fellow walkers. It’s available on Apple Store and Google Play. Depending on how much you fundraise, you also unlock incentive prizes, such as fanny packs and jackets. But, there isn’t a minimum amount you need to fundraise to take part.
If you’re unable to walk yourself and raise funds, you can donate to individuals or teams online.
