Here’s everything you need to know about Sara Ehrhardt who was elected Ward 14’s city councillor on Oct. 26.

Sara Ehrhardt has been voted as city councillor for Ward 14 Toronto-Danforth for her very first term. Her priorities include affordability, climate action and promoting vibrant neighbourhoods and businesses.

Coun. Ehrhardt won the councillor seat in the 2026 Toronto municipal election with 48.8% of the votes, beating a former councillor, Mary Fragedakis, who had 22.7% of the votes. She also beat Dianne Saxe who shifted her candidacy to University-Rosedale. Ehrhardt will officially step into her role on Nov. 15, 2026.

The Green Line reached out to Ehrhardt to learn more about her priorities for the next four years, but got no response. Here are some of the promises Ehrhardt made in her campaign:

  • Fighting for affordability housing: Ehrhardt says she will fight for affordable homes near new transit stations, support new co-op housing, fight bad landlords and rent increases and expand the Seniors Property Tax Deferral Program.
  • Making public services affordable: She wants to make it easier for parents to sign their kids up for child care. Ehrhardt even wants to create more free options for people in the city to have fun on a day out. She supports fare capping at 10 rides per week.
  • Protecting the climate and waterfront: Ehrhardt wants to prevent any further moves to expand Toronto Island airport, while promoting green alternatives to the Portlands gas plant.
  • Investing in public and road safety: Ehrhardt wants to keep roads, parks and public transit safe by increasing public investment in outreach works, and support youth and communities. She  wants to make sure public spaces like libraries, parks and streets are safe and welcoming for everyone. She also calls for more crossing guards, traffic calming near schools and expanding a safe cycling network.

Here’s how Ehrhardt responded to election pledges shared by local organizations and advocacy groups:

  • Ehrhardt fully signed on to the Community-led Planning Pledge to fund community-led planning and centre community voices.
  • She signed the TTC Riders’ pledge to push for more reliable, affordable, accessible, frequent, fast, and safe public transit.
  • She agreed to most of the points in the Cycle Toronto’s pledge to improve cycling infrastructure in the city.
  • She fully committed to the demands raised by Toronto ACORN to give RentSafeTO teeth, stand up to Ontario and tackle heat and affordability. You can check the details here.
  • She signed the Toronto Environmental Alliance’s pledge to commit to voting for a maximum temperature bylaw, plant trees in hot neighbourhoods, cut single-use trash at big events, pause approvals for big AI data centres and cut emissions.
