Torontonians can weigh in on TTC updates and the future of Little Jamaica at two public meetings next week.
Who would’ve thought that you can get to know a city and connect with its people by simply attending a local public meeting?
Not me — at least not before I joined the Documenters program. Over the past few months, I’ve realized going to a public meeting is an effective way to understand what’s happening around you, who’s impacted by what and why it’s important to care.
So, here are two upcoming meetings to keep you informed about what’s going on in Toronto.
On June 2, 2026, City of Toronto staff are hosting an online meeting about the Little Jamaica and Oakwood Vaughan Planning Framework Study.
The draft relies on community input to guide future growth and development and the organizers want to hear people’s questions and comments.
Is this your neighbourhood or maybe you just want to support the community? You can register here. The virtual meeting is happening from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
TTC SAFETY, FARES AND WAYFINDING
On June 3, 2026, the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) is hosting a board meeting to discuss safety on the transit system, Indigenous wayfinding and fare collection updates.
Part of this meeting will deal with confidential items, so it’ll be closed to the public in the morning. If you want to attend, plan your arrival for the afternoon session.
No registration is required. You can show up to Committee Room 1 at City Hall or watch on the City’s YouTube channel.
