Looking for good grocery deals in North York?
Today on “The Checkout,” we’re bringing you along to a grocery haul in Flemingdon Park.
Sunny Foodmart may not look like much from its humble storefront tucked into the Flemingdon Park Shopping Centre at 747 Don Mills Rd., but once you go in, you’ll realize it’s a vast local chain with fresh vegetables, frozen and fresh seafood, a halal meat section and multiple international aisles.
It’s open every day from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. If you don’t live nearby, you can take Line 5 to Don Valley Station then, walk 13 minutes South, or you can take one of the many buses with stops nearby, including 72 Pape and 25 Don Mills.
The store offers a wide variety of Indian spices, Asian oils and sauces, live crabs and more.
On our grocery shopping trip last week, we found two packs of romaine lettuce for $3, a pack of strawberries for $3, small packs of raspberries and blackberries for $0.97 each, assorted frozen Indian snacks for $2.97, a box of Japanese mochi for $7 and fried pani puri shells for $4.97.
Sunny Foodmart also has three other locations on 115 Ravel Rd. in Hillcrest Village, 1620 Albion Rd. in Mount Olive-Silverstone-Jamestown and 7700 Markham Rd. in Markham.
