Looking to cool down this week?
Whether that means eating some sandwiches while enjoying punk music or learning the art of dancing in heels, there are plenty of ways to beat the heat outside of your house. Here are a couple of options to do so this week.
SANDWICHES AND SONICS

Sandwiches and sonics: Jess Montebello, of Crocus and vegan cafe and DIY arts space D-Beastro, is raising funds to cover vet bills by throwing a pop-up concert. Head over to The Arcade on May 23 at 7 p.m. to enjoy local bands while munching on vegan sandwiches.
SING YOUR HEART OUT

Sing your heart out: Have you tired out your friends by constantly singing showtunes? Then Three Dollar Bill’s next Queer Broadway Karaoke night has your name written all over it. On Tuesday, May 26, snag a mask, a drink or two and your favourite tracks to perform alongside other musical theatre nerds from 8 p.m. till late.
canadian-chinese cuisine chats

Canadian-Chinese cuisine chats: Join the Toronto Public Library and author Ann Hui for a discussion on Canadian Chinese restaurants, based on her latest book on the topic. Held at the library’s Lillian H. Smith branch, this discussion will take place on May 27 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Attendance is free, but make sure you RSVP beforehand.
get your sexy on

Get your sexy on: Are you a queer woman of colour (QWOC) who wants to try out dancing in heels amongst your community? Then thank the Queer Queens Social Club, as May 31 marks their heels class, open to all QWOC over the age of 25. From 2:30 to 5 p.m. for $25, Cierra Lee of Haus of Heels will guide all in a confidence-boosting beginners class held at CRE8 Toronto.
