Summer isnât over yet, word to Zara Larsson.
We might not have a neverending sun here in Toronto, but we do have some sweet events worth soaking up the sun rays for.
Anniversary BBQ

Anniversary BBQ: The Collective of Child Welfare Survivors is celebrating five years since their inception and are welcoming all to their community kickback event. For free, you can get your clothes altered, learn how to bead and enjoy some soul food while listening to live poetry, rap and more from 1 to 7 p.m. at the Childrenâs Peace Theatre.
Shop and sip (valve)

Shop and sip (valve): Join Masc Block Toronto for a free sip valve demonstration and swap party. On Aug 15 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., join fellow mask-ers to learn how to use sip valves at Fred Hamilton Park. Youâre also welcome to bring used items youâre cool parting with. From gently used clothes to books gathering dust on your shelves, bring all that and more to swap and shop from community membersâ closets. Bring your own blankets, non-alcoholic drinks and scissors for the demonstration this weekend.
Summer tunes

Summer tunes: As part of the Summer Series at Trillium Park comes Summer Thing, an all-ages festival by Wavelength. Enjoy art installations and dance performances, good food provided by the likes of Market 707âs Kanto and sweets from Moon Milk while enjoying live music of all genres. Whether youâre looking to enjoy Afro-Brazilian percussion or some indie folk, hear all sorts of genres from Toronto (and some Montreal) artists from 5 âtill 11 p.m. on Aug. 16. While free, tickets are needed for entry so make sure to grab some before you go.
Baddie run club

Baddie run club: Run through the streets with your fellow âyoung hosâ with DJ Introspekt and FOMOâs Ajukiâs weekly running group. Titled âYoung Hos Run Freeâ, join the group for their next 2.5 km run on Monday, Aug. 17 at 7 p.m. Meet at the basketball court by Stackt Market then enjoy a run by the lake and wine down watching the sun set with new friends.
Read under the trees

Read under the trees: Head to Cedar Ridge Park on Aug. 19 for the Scarborough Environment Associationâs free outdoor reading event series. Grab your latest read, a picnic blanket and a friend and meet by the parkâs sign at 7 p.m. for an hour of screen-free reading.
