The only thing worse than a bathroom emergency while you’re out and about is a dirty, stinky public washroom.
But if you’re around East York Town Centre, you don’t have to worry! The shopping mall has some of the cleanest and least busy public washrooms I’ve seen in the city. I was shocked.
Located on 45 Overlea Blvd., the East York Town Centre houses the Thorncliffe Park Community Hub, a food court with a few options for fried chicken, samosas and juice, plenty of seating (and aunties gossiping), retail stores, medical service providers and more. There’s a lot to do around, so if you’re out there and suddenly have an urge to go, you’re covered.

The centre has bathrooms on every floor. I’ve visited the ones on the ground floor and floor -1 multiple times and they’ve never disappointed. The bathrooms are clean, always stocked with toilet paper and soap. There are accessible stalls and baby changing stations. The underground floor washroom even has a little leather armchair for the parents (or anyone who needs a minute to sit down).
East York Town Centre is open every day until 8 p.m. (except Sunday, when it closes at 6 p.m.).
