This food bank in Weston wants canned goods and soap

The Weston Area Emergency Support served over 370,000 meals in 2025.

WAES, located at 1 King St. in the Central United Church, is always in need of donations. You can donate all types of food, personal hygiene care and household cleaning items year-round.

The volunteer-run food bank has been serving the Weston—Mount Dennis community since 1986.

“We welcome community members from all backgrounds and walks of life. We offer respect to all who come through our doors, both community members and volunteers,” as described on its website.

Because WAES has been feeling the demand for food security in the area, the food bank appreciates food and personal care donations. Here are some specifics on what they accept for drop-offs.

Donations can be dropped off on Mondays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. You can also call their phone number, 416-247-3737 and arrange a convenient drop-off time.

Can’t make it in person to donate? Monetary donations help them purchase the food they need to support the community.

This can be done via cheque written to WAES and mailed to their address at 1 King St., York M9N 1K8, or online through CanadaHelps.

Do you have at least three hours a week to commit to WAES instead of donating?

You can spend your time volunteering with the group instead. Some tasks may include stocking shelves, packing and grocery distribution.
