If you’re looking for a late-night study spot or need a sweet drink to hit the spot, then stop by Cộng Cà Phê.
Now I’d love to say that I discovered this Vietnamese-style coffee shop on my own, but it was actually brought up last year at one of our zine events. I love asking people for recs in the city, always curious to find out where people are locals at, and Cộng Cà Phê was one of the places mentioned.
Since learning about them, I’ve loved stopping by Cộng Cà Phê as a breather from the overwhelming swarm of people downtown or to charge my phone in a calm space in the Annex. They also have a location by Yonge and Eglinton that opened just earlier this year!
It closes late enough for a night owl like me, has stable Wi-Fi, and a cute aesthetic that begs to be a spot to catch up with friends or study late into the night. It’s also one of the few spots I think that offers interesting drinks for both coffee and tea lovers, which has even tempted me as a staunch coffee hater and some fun smoothies and slushies for those who want something a bit frostier. I last tried their Saigon-salted kumquat drink, and as someone who has never tried a kumquat, I’m only more intrigued about the fruit.
Now keep in mind the seats at their locations are pretty small, so it isn’t the best for people like me who have 34503405 things on hand. But I made do, and I’m sure you can too! And their Elm Street location also has a basement with a long table that can surely accommodate all the late-night crammers and caffeine-fueled catch-up sessions you need.
Plus, they also have bánh mì! So if you need a late-night bite, Cộng Cà Phê is the perfect spot to hit.
