What song or artist best define Toronto to you?

Since last summer, we’ve been going around the city asking Torontonians this question. Folks answered with some classics, shouted out some underdogs...but way too many mentioned Drake.

Clearly, there’s some education that needs to be done on the wide range of artists who've called Toronto home.

That’s why we made you a playlist! Enjoy more than 40 songs from all genres, featuring local artists and a couple of underrated Canadian classics!

Are you looking for a specific vibe? We've highlighted three of our favourite songs.

Harrison's "Bump," featuring MED & Guilty Simpson begs to be played at your next picnic. It’s the audio equivalent of sunlight peeking through the leaves of a tree you’ve sat under. No notes.

Chxrry's "Poppin' out (Mistakes)" should your go-to song if you're looking for a banger produced by The Neptunes and mixed with the swag of Ciara for the modern day baddie. If you aren’t singing this song at the top of your lungs with your girlfriends at the club, in the car or while getting ready, try again!

Chris LaRocca's "laundry day" is perfect for all Frank Ocean fans feening for the next album and for lovers of scream-out-loud indie pop. Vivid. Evocative. Begs to be played live or used as the soundtrack of a life-changing movie moment.

Life in Toronto isn’t always easy — but you’re not alone. Twice a month, we’ll send you handpicked events that build real community, plus tips and local hacks to help you thrive in our city.
